HYT – The Chastroid Space Hunter: The New Bronze Age – Trends & Styles

Across time and space, a new type of spacecraft tirelessly explores the watchmaking galaxy in search of new and unique expressions of watchmaking art.
This fall, HYT Hastroid comes in a warm and sensual shade with a bronze shell. An original variation, to say the least, as it combines the futuristic nature of Hastroid with a material texture dating back to the most ancient times. Sleek and sophisticated, the new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter is the perfect complement to HYT’s bold approach.
“What we have been working on is a master craft that combines fluid technology and mechanical complexity,” said Davide Serrato, HYT CEO and Creative Director.
This craftsmanship is clearly reflected in the two-piece case design of the new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter watch, which has a diameter of 48mm, an overall length of 52.3mm and a case thickness of 17.2mm. The originality of this product lies in the combination of carbon and titanium with PVD bronze coating and micro-bead finish. The benefit of this electroplated bronze finish is vintage hunting style combined with Hastroid’s amazing lightness.
For millennia, bronze has traditionally been an alloy of copper and tin that has a color close to that of gold, but often changes as a result of oxidation. Bronze often blackens or becomes covered with a patina. To make their new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter timeless, HYT decided to use a stabilized finish to keep the bronze color. Capturing beauty and lightness with a resolutely modern approach, without any nostalgia or attempt at an artificial retro effect, HYT brings bronze to a new futuristic era.
Offering a beautiful contrast, this case color option emphasizes optimal readability of the dial with beige numerals in modern Lumicast® material, luminosity-enhancing 3D Superluminova®, matte black hands, and of course, there are also liquids that show retrograde time. This black liquid inside ultra-fine borosilicate capillaries is a strikingly unique feature of HYT’s mecafluid watch.
“Mecafluidic technology is a new term in the research and development of luxury watches. We have the opportunity to highlight the symbiotic nature of these two technologies (mechanical and fluid),” said Davide Serrato, HYT CEO and Creative Director.
The layered middle case of the Hastroid is a delicate openwork, and the watch as a whole is layered, water-resistant to 50 meters and has a central protective titanium case for the movement, which optimally copes with the tasks entrusted to this new spacecraft. .
Like the cockpit, the watch is topped with a domed sapphire crystal, providing an almost unobstructed view of the entire dial. Of course, the heart of the mecafluid movement remains the hydraulic system, with two central “bellows” reservoirs, a design unique to HYT’s work, enhancing the character and sense of power around the dial and capillaries.
It is powered by a hand-wound 501 CM mechanical movement that beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and has a power reserve of 72 hours.
The movement was designed by Eric Coudray, a renowned watchmaker and winner of the 2012 Prix Gaïa. With the assistance of PURTEC (part of the TEC Group) and his longtime friend and watchmaker Paul Clementi (Gaïa 2018), the movement is elegantly brushed, lasered or sandblasted for a more refined look and finish.
The black rubber bracelet with green Alcantara® inlays underscores the character of this military-inspired modern watchmaking art, while the embossed Corioform® design is reminiscent of astronauts’ space suits.
Rare and original, only 27 of the new Hastroid Cosmic Hunter (ref. H02756-A) will be produced.
The pioneers of “fluid time” became experts in what was long considered impossible: to combine mechanics and fluids in watches.
